About Us
I was born and brought up in the north-west region of the UK and have had a life long relationship with baking and cookery. I attended a co-ed secondary modern school near St. Helens where I learned to use the skills I put into practice today in my cake baking. I use traditional methods in preference to modern microwave cooking. I was taught how to bake pies, trifles, flans, meringues and an awful lot of other delicacies too such as rum truffles, ideal at Christmas and whenever a treat is required.
Barbara, my mother, was self taught from the age of 16 when my Grandma Clarke sadly passed away when only 57. She had cancer of the oesophagus. When my sister Ann and I were younger she used to make jams and chutneys from fresh fruits and sometimes marmalade too. We also loved my Mum's fudge. A bulging recipe book is full of cake recipes and stews and desserts.
Our users
A typical user must be interested in how cakes are made; their ingredients and nutritional values including carbohydrates, fats and sugars.
Energy and calorific figures also. All cakes are naughty but they are also nice!
